6 Reasons Liquid Web managed woocommerce is a “Must Have” for your new E-Store

"Every other host is trying to win the game. Liquid Web keeps changing it. Their WooCommerce platform is incredible." -- Justin Sainton, Zao

"Few teams know WooCommerce and the dynamics of high performance like the folks at Liquid Web."
-- Brian Richards, WPSessions

"Websites that are more than blogs - membership sites and eCommerce stores - need to be tuned for high performance and speed. That's why we recommend the Liquid Web platform - because it's insanely fast. Once you feel the difference, you'll fall in love." -- Brian Bourn, Bourn Creative

"As businesses move more of their operations online, they have increasingly complex needs and requirements. It is difficult to address this situation with a one-size-fits-all platform and the skills of a service provider and an extensive portfolio of services - that can be found at providers like Liquid Web - becomes indispensable."

I visited a few webmaster forums and found a lot of great reviews about Liquid Web’s support services. I sent a few questions to (the) sales team and they responded within minutes with detailed answers.

What's worked for us well at Liquid Web is the combination of dedicated servers for mission-critical, custom systems along with cloud-based nodes that we can scale up and down as needed.

First, with the huge array of hosting, ecommerce and "DIY" website companies, why would we recommend Liquid Web over the others?

Well, considering I have been there and done that, as they say, we are now in the process of moving websites over to Liquid Web managed services after literally spending the last few years finding the DIY system will not work if you have even more than a couple websites!

I am not a stranger to the internet, building websites, server systems and CMS clients, so stubbornly, I believed I was more than capable of handling a couple websites and an eCommerce shopping site.

That is sooo far from reality it is laughable!

  1. Time to Setup, Truth is, it takes much longer than you think.
  2. Security, has become a major concern.
  3. Plugins, OMG, there are Oh so many plugins!
  4. Updates, are driving me crazy!
  5. Speed, is now a factor for increasing sales.
  6. Cost, weighs in as one of the biggest factors.

These 6 factors are just a few issues that can zap your enthusiasm to stubbornly cling to your DIY style. They influence the shopping experience but they also influence the main platform of your website. So whatever stumbling blocks will be doubled when you have to setup both the main website platform and the eCommerce platform.

So you can see with several websites how we end up with no hair left after pulling it out for months on end.

Time to Setup

The companies that offer DIY website services have very convincing presentation on their websites to entice you to signup. They talk about how simple it is to get started and that their DIY services will make you an "expert website designer" in a few steps.  They show videos where someone builds a stunning website in just seconds and by some miracle everything falls into place with just the right text, photos and layout.

The actual learning curve is much steeper and while a simple website may come together in a few days, the more complex sites can take a few months.

Actually, there are no simple websites.

Let me touch on a few of the items on your "DIY To Do List."

You will need a good theme and setup correctly.

It will need to be responsive and mobile optimized.

Staff accounts, SEO, Store management and of course the product listings.

So it will get overwhelming quickly and a managed program will reduce your headaches.

A Beginner’s Guide to Managed WordPress on Liquid Web

Security

So you just put 3 months into setting up this stunning website and everything is working smooth, until... attack.

Yes your website is vulnerable to attack.

If you are a hardcore (former hardcore) DIY'er like me then you for sure didn't have it secured yet because you wanted to get it operational first.

The managed version of both the woocommerce and main platform is usually already covered with backups. The DIY companies figure you are a DIY'er so you can take care of that yourself. The managed company is already on top of that problem.

Plugins

This is a screenshot of just 15 of the many plugins on just one of my "simple" websites.

If you look close there are several plugins already out of date with updates waiting for me to install.

A major issue with plugins is do they work with the version of the main website platform or will they cause huge issues to your website????????

For the DIY'er that is a game of "Trial and Error."

One single plugin could cost you a weeks work all to find out it will never work the way it was advertised.

Here is what Liquid Web says about plugins:

liquid-web-icon

Liquid Web

"While many hosts update your WordPress installation, they leave your plugins alone. After all, who wants to be responsible for your site if two plugins conflict with each other. We do! We now automatically update all your plugins in a separate environment to make sure there's no conflicts. If everything looks good, we update your production site".

Updates

Not just Managed Servers.  Managed Services.

"We take on your server administration, including hardware management, network management, operating system and pre-installed software support, proactive security patches and updates, and proactive service monitoring and restoration".

"We’re Focused on Web Professionals, Like You."

"We recognize that companies who sites are powering their business know their success is tied to more than just infrastructure. They want a team who is always on, always vigilant and always there to help. That’s us...we’re your team. Monitoring your servers, mitigating risk, optimizing performance. And if you need support, with one of our technicians quickly and on your first contact. Everything we do is about being that partner you can trust.

That’s why Liquid Web is the most loved managed hosting provider in the industry".

It isn't just about doing the updates but the question is, do you know for sure the updates to the main website platform will not kill the website, and what about the woocommerce and plugin updates?????????????????

A managed wordpress and woocommerce website will actuall same your sanity and save you tons of time.

Speed

Liquid Web managed woocommerce sites are optimized for speed by some code magic that Liquid Web developed.

I personally worked on one of my woocommerce sites for months setting it up then I added some products.

I was surprised it ran pretty fast with a few products, but then, I added another hundred products and it choked to death.

Why did my site die? I believed I could figure what it took to build a fast site but the magic pill was far away from my grasp.

Here is what Liquid Web has to say on the speed issue for woocommerce:

Is Your Host Optimized for eCommerce?

Shoppers are impatient. If your site’s product pages aren’t loading between 1.8 and 2.7 seconds or faster across all device types, you’re not converting shoppers into buyers. Even a two-second delay can send customers bouncing off your site. Simply put, store owners can’t afford slow websites, yet many WordPress hosts are built to serve blogs and online magazines, not the high traffic loads of eCommerce traffic.>
There are many ways to improve your store’s performance, like compressing images, leveraging static caching, or using a Content Delivery Network (CDN). But these optimizations require technical training and upkeep time.

Web hosts designed for eCommerce sites include these services as standard features. But Managed WooCommerce Hosting offers these optimizations and more. You’ll always know your website is running at full capacity, with less downtime and lost sales.

Is Scaling Your Business Costing You Money?

When your business grows or you get traffic spikes, your store needs more resources — CPU, RAM, and bandwidth. Often, hosts solve your growth problem by upselling you to different plans, charging more, and shutting down your site for migration. This all adds up to extra costs.

Managed WooCommerce Hosting uses a web server environment that’s elastic and scalable. The system dynamically monitors your traffic and adds resources on the fly, all without migration or downtime. That means no lost sales and a consistent shopping experience for your customers.

Your website’s performance can slow because of conflicting spikes in traffic or conflicting plugin updates. Instead of making changes to your site and hoping for the best, Managed WooCommerce Hosting makes a duplicate of your website and tests it before pushing out updates. These tests ensure your site is always open for business, especially during high volume traffic days like Cyber Monday.

So it is easy to see that a managed woocommerce and wordpress hosting plan makes sense.

Cost

This is sometimes not a clear choice since most companies will post their lowest price to get started. the problem comes in with all the added extras like email hosting, newsletter scripts, Pro DNS, Privacy, Security and many others based on the company.

Liquid Web is a bit different in that a WooCommerce managed acct can start at $39 a month, with higher plan as you grow.

Some other companies will offer DIY hosting for much less per month but look at the data transfer and storage and you will see that it could not support even a mildly robust woocommerce website.

Then add in the extra $100 to $200 annual cost for the SSL certs, email and you have surprisingly high monthly costs.

With the fact Liquid Web has so many extra features and the faster speed with ability to handle very large number of products, and it becomes a no-brainer.

You have huge less headaches for Setup, Security, Plugins, Updates and Speed. Your time is valuable so to spend much less time is a cost saving bonus.

Of course Liquid Web can cover you if you grow your eCommerce business and after all isn't that exactly why you decided to start this venture in the first place.

So personally, after years of being the DIY stubborn fool, I have seen the light and I spend months comparing different companies.

What I found is the other DIY hosting plans (even the managed wordpress plan from Godaddy) are a far cry from anything Liquid Web has to offer.

I am proceeding to move websites over to Liquid Web because it just makes sense. I hope to be saving an average (for my sites and time) of $50 an month per website and for me that is quite a lot of cash.

The other huge thing is Liquid Web has more experienced tech people and that is compared to myself having been in this game since 1996.
